Paint Scratch Repair in Royse City, Polished or Refinished
Brush marks from a country road near Caddo Mills, a cart scrape in a Fate parking lot. Before you pay for paint, find out whether a polish will take care of it.
The Fingernail Test and What Comes After
Run a fingernail across the scratch. If it doesn't catch, the mark is probably in the clear coat, and a careful machine polish can usually take it out. If your nail catches, the scratch has likely gone through the clear into the color or primer, and polishing alone won't hide it. That's where spot refinishing comes in: we fill, prime, color and clear just the damaged area, then blend it into the rest of the panel. We measure the paint thickness before we touch anything, so we never polish through a thin clear coat. You'll get the honest call on which fix your scratch needs, and we'll go with the lighter one whenever it does the job.
Scratch Fixes, Light to Deep
Scratch repair ranges from a short polish to a small refinish. Here's what can go into it.
Clear coat measured first
A paint gauge tells us how much clear is left, so we know how far we can safely polish.
Wash and clay
Dirt and stuck-on grit come off first so polishing doesn't drag them across the paint.
Light marks buffed out
Shallow scratches and swirls are leveled out of the clear coat with a polisher and the right compound.
Fine sanding on slightly deeper marks
Marks a little deeper get a careful wet sand to level them before polishing brings the shine back.
Rock chips filled and leveled
Small chips from highway gravel get filled with matched paint and leveled so they don't trap moisture.
Small repaint for scratches to primer
When a scratch reaches primer or metal, we repaint the affected area and blend the edges out.
Open metal gets primed
Any scratch that reached bare metal gets primer first, so rust doesn't creep under the new paint.
Gloss checked against the next panel
We compare the repaired area to untouched paint nearby to make sure the shine matches.
How a Scratch Gets Handled Here
Measure and decide
We clean the area and look at the scratch under good light. A paint meter tells us how much clear is left. Then we tell you whether it's a polish job or a refinish. You get the estimate before we start.
Polish it out or paint it in
Light scratches are polished out of the clear coat. Deeper ones get filled, primed and sprayed in the booth. Either way, we work only the area that needs it. That keeps as much original paint on the car as possible.
Final buff and walk-around
Refinished spots are blended into the surrounding paint and polished. Polished areas get a final pass to bring up the gloss. We look at it from a few angles with you so you can judge it yourself.
Why People Trust Us With Small Paint Damage
Polish before paint, always
If a polish will do the job, that's what you'll get. We don't sell paint work a scratch doesn't need.
No polishing through your clear
Measuring first means we know where to stop, so a light fix never turns into a bigger one.
Deep scratches sealed off
A scratch left open to the metal will rust. We seal it properly so the repair keeps looking good.
